• A core part of San Francisco’s cultural backbone: as a local, I stop in whenever I’m nearby. • Maze-like layout where you can wander and get lost (in a good way), but sections are still clearly labeled so you can od course always find what you need. • Strong “staff picks” culture: handwritten notes with thoughtful highlights that actually help you choose. • Used books upstairs: easy to spend an hour just browsing that section alone. • Also carries notebooks, cards, pens, and other small finds beyond books.

This is by far the best bookstore ever!! It is well curated with a wide and varied selection of books, not new and used! I could literally spend hours in here looking for nonfiction to syfy fantasy, fiction to cookbooks and everything in between. When we used to come with out now grown children, everyone would spread out to their favorite sections and be gone for who knows how long until we each came back with a stack of books to purchase! If you are a book lover, this is your place!
