If you love the hunt for a great book, B Street Books is the place. Even with the move to Burlingame, this is still my go-to for unique and obscure finds. The selection is wonderful and the staff is the perfect mix of expert and hands-off—they let you browse in peace but are there when you need them. It’s a great way to spend an hour, and you’ll inevitably walk out with something special you won't find anywhere else.

I have to admit I've never been in a used bookstore so I really didn't know what to expect. Each area was denoted with what books were in that section, but there was no rhyme or reason for what was placed next to each other. For example military was in one section while music was way in the back. It took me 20 minutes to find what I was looking for. They do have a good selection of books & reasonable prices. The cashier (if that's what you call him) wasn't overly friendly, but a worker there was very sweet & helpful. As someone who is disabled, I would like to see more than one chair.

Our family love visiting here whenever we go dining in San Mateo downtown, and everyone gets to find something to bring home with. They have very extensive collection of all the genre you can think of. The owner is pretty laid back and friendly, you can just get lost in the piles of books for as long as you wish. A must visit for book lovers!
